COURSE CONTENTS
LEVEL ONE PROGRAM: REAR FOOT: COMMON CAUSES OF BIOMECHANICAL DYSFUNCTION Basic biomechanical principles are discussed including the Subtalar joint (STJ), what it is, where it is and how it should function. Why it does not always function as designed and the contributing factors associated with dysfunction of the STJ. COMMON CONDITIONS: TOPICS Plantar Fasciitis, Heel spur, Achilles tendonitis, Shin splints, Knee pain, Low back pain, Leg length discrepancy. The Gait cycle PRACTICAL: Hands on assessment and Neutral position of the STJ, Taping techniques, Heat moulding and fitting of Vasyli Orthosis (each delegate will receive a pair of orthotics for the practical session) Wedging and fine tuning.
LEVEL TWO PROGRAM: FORE FOOT: ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS OF FOREFOOT CONDITIONS: We look at what constitutes the forefoot, the joints and the interaction between the rear foot and fore foot. How they function together during gait to convert the foot from a mobile adapter to a rigid lever and back. Mechanics and motion of the fore foot, 1st ray function and assessment, Fore foot neutral position COMMON CONDITIONS: TOPICS Bunions, Metatarsalgia, Morton's neuroma, Halux limitus/ridgidus, Hammer, Claw, Mallet toes, Fore foot Valgus / Varus, Plantarflexed / Dorsiflexed 1st ray. PRACTICAL: Hands on assessment of the fore foot, Measurement techniques, Wedging and fine tuning of orthosis. Troubleshooting.
PROGRAM TIMING LEVELS 1 & 2 REGISTRATION: 09.30 to 10.00 AM: SESSION ONE 10.00 to 11.15AM : BREAK: 15 MINS: SESSION TWO 11.30 to 12.45PM: LUNCH: 1 HOUR 1.45 to 4.30PM PRACTICAL SESSION (all session times subject to variation on the day)
COST: GBP 100.00 per level. This includes all refreshments, 2 course restaurant lunch, a set of comprehensive notes, a pair of Vasyli Custom orthotics for the level 1 practical session and a certificate of completion. When booking L1 & 2 together you will receive a 10% discount! You can book different venues for the seminars and the discount is still applicable I.E. you can attend L1 in Exeter and L2 in Bristol if you wish.
